Maintained turf on river-edge and upland lots
If you searched for lawn treatment in Harrah, start here. The work is weed control and fertilization. It is not a mowing route, and it is not the whole deed. Woods, pasture, ponds, and rough ground stay outside the request. The city page for the same kind of work is lawn treatment in Oklahoma City.
A full plan on this site is six visits a year. Three visits are weed control and pre-emergent. Three visits are fertilizing plus spot weed treatment. Fertilizer is not on every visit. After a fertilizing visit, water within 24–48 hours if you can. What those visits include is on weed control and fertilization. We confirm the plan after we see this lawn.
Upland sand over redder clay
Sample points on higher ground in the Oklahoma County survey around Harrah returned a Stephenville-Darnell complex or Harrah fine sandy loam. The Stephenville series has a sandy surface over sandy clay loam, then sandstone. Say whether the thin spot is the high part of the lot or a low pocket. A sandy surface over clay is not the same problem as a flooded bottom.
Lower ground near the river
The North Canadian is why the town is here. Sample points on lower ground in the same county survey came back as Dale silt loam on rarely flooded ground, Yahola fine sandy loam on occasionally flooded ground, or a frequently flooded Gaddy-Gracemore complex. Flooded map units are a different conversation from an upland lawn. Tell us if water stands after a storm.
Sun Bermuda and a shaded strip
OSU Extension HLA-6418 says bermudagrass is the best-adapted turfgrass for full-sun areas in Oklahoma, and that warm-season turfgrasses cannot tolerate shaded sites. For a permanent lawn in shade it names cool-season grasses, including tall fescue. One Harrah address can have both. Say which part changed. We do not sell seed.
What to share for a Harrah lawn request
- The full street address, not only the city
- How much lawn you mow, separate from pasture, woods, or the river edge
- Whether the weak area is upland, a low spot, or shade
- Gates, soft ground after rain, pets, and anything already applied

Weed height, yard waste, and the irrigation rule that is actually in the code
These notes are from the Harrah city code and the city's trash pages. They are not a spray schedule, and they are not a service we add. We do not mow, and we do not haul off the yard waste.
Twelve inches, with real exceptions
Harrah City Code section 8-101 makes it unlawful for an owner or occupant to allow trash or weeds to grow, stand, or accumulate on a lot inside the city, and it makes removal that owner's duty. Section 8-102 defines weeds to include poison ivy, poison oak, and poison sumac, and vegetation that exceeds twelve inches, except healthy trees, shrubs, or produce for human consumption grown in a tended garden, unless those plants are a health, traffic, or fire hazard or interfere with mowing the weeds. At any height, vegetation is also a weed if it harbors trash, harbors rodents or vermin, gives off noxious odors, is a fire or traffic hazard, or is dead or diseased.
The same definition leaves out tended crops on land zoned agricultural when they are planted more than 150 feet from a parcel zoned for something else, and it leaves out grazing pasture for livestock. That exception is why a Harrah acreage edge is not automatically a code case, and why we still ask which part is the lawn. Section 8-104 says the city manager's notice orders the trash or weeds cut, removed, or destroyed unless that is done within ten days from the date the notice is mailed. The twelve-inch line is the city's. We do not mow to it.
Limbs, lawn bags, and the 2026 bulk windows
Section 8-102 lists yard clippings, leaves, and wood among examples of trash. If pulled weeds or clippings sit on the lot, they can fall under that trash rule. Set-out for bulk pickup is a different page. The City of Harrah trash schedule says you do not have to call ahead. Place bulk items next to the curb, not against the cart. The limit is three cubic yards or twenty lawn bags, and bags are not to exceed forty pounds. More than three cubic yards may bring a $15 surcharge per extra cubic yard.
Limbs and branches have to be cut into four-foot sections and bundled with string or twine. A bundle may not be more than three feet in diameter and may not exceed forty pounds. If they are not bundled that way, the city says you may incur a $15 surcharge. Do not set paints, stains, oils, gas, propane cylinders, or tires out with bulk trash. The page lists each 2026 bulk window by date, from January 12–16 through December 14–18. The city's disposal policy PDF says bulk waste pickups are the third week of every month and that small twigs go out in small tied bundles. Follow the dates on the trash schedule when those two pages do not name the same week.
No odd-even watering calendar on the city pages
The irrigation language in the code is section 12-356.1. Required landscaping for multi-family, commercial, industrial, institutional, and public uses is to be kept alive, and irrigated by an underground sprinkler system, a hose attachment within 200 feet of all of that landscaping, or a drip system. Single-family homes and duplexes are sent to subsection D. That subsection requires a front-yard tree on a new interior single-family lot, and a second tree on the side front yard of a new corner lot, before the final certificate of occupancy. It does not set a watering day for an existing home lawn.
The city trash schedule and the city FAQ do not publish an odd/even or drought-day watering calendar. OSU's Consumer Bermudagrass Lawn Management Calendar treats watering as an estimate: adjust for rain, and water when footprints show in the grass after you walk across it. That is OSU, not a Harrah ordinance. After one of our fertilizing visits, the note this site already uses is to water within 24–48 hours if you can.
Southeast Oklahoma County, not one soil name
The Encyclopedia of Oklahoma History and Culture places Harrah in the extreme southeast corner of Oklahoma County, at a natural ford of the North Canadian River, and says the town incorporated in 1908. The U.S. Census Bureau QuickFacts page for Harrah city, Oklahoma, lists 12.42 square miles of land area in 2020, a Census count of 6,245 on April 1, 2020, and a July 1, 2025 population estimate of 7,212. Those figures describe the city. They do not describe your lot.
Soil names below are from USDA-NRCS Soil Data Access for survey area OK109, Oklahoma County, Oklahoma. That is the tabular soil survey behind Web Soil Survey. The points are samples around the city, not a boundary clip of every parcel, and not a promise about the lot at your address.
Upland: Stephenville, Darnell, and Harrah fine sandy loam
Upland sample points returned Stephenville-Darnell complex, 1 to 5 percent slopes, and the eroded phase of that complex, plus Harrah fine sandy loam, 3 to 5 percent slopes. On the 1 to 5 percent complex, Stephenville is about 55 percent of the unit and Darnell about 30 percent. On the eroded complex, Stephenville is about 70 percent and Darnell about 20 percent. Stephenville is rated well drained. Darnell is rated excessively drained on those units. The Harrah fine sandy loam unit is about 85 percent Harrah series and is rated well drained. A sample point near 35.49°N, 97.16°W returned Urban land, which is not a lawn series.
The Stephenville official series is moderately deep and well drained, formed in material weathered from Permian sandstone, on hills in the North Cross Timbers. The typical pedon is loamy fine sand over a red sandy clay loam, with sandstone starting at about 33 inches. The Darnell series is shallow, well drained to somewhat excessively drained, on summits and shoulders of low hills in the Cross Timbers, also from Permian sandstone. Shallow sandstone changes how deep roots and water can go. Fertilizer does not deepen that rock.
The Harrah series is not the city limits
The Harrah series is very deep to sandstone, well drained, with a fine sandy loam surface, on backslopes and foot slopes of low hills. Its official type location is in Cleveland County, about ten miles east of Norman, not inside the City of Harrah. The name shows up as a map unit in the Oklahoma County survey. A street in town can still be Urban land, Stephenville, Dale, or something else. We will not tell you the series from the city name.
Lower sample points returned Dale silt loam, 0 to 1 percent slopes, rarely flooded, with Dale about 95 percent of the unit and well drained, and Yahola fine sandy loam, 0 to 1 percent slopes, occasionally flooded, with Yahola about 90 percent and well drained. One point returned Gaddy-Gracemore complex, 0 to 1 percent slopes, frequently flooded. If the lawn sits in that bottom ground, say so before anyone talks about a summer feed.
Timing notes for an Oklahoma lawn, applied to a Harrah lot
The timing below is from Oklahoma State University Extension fact sheets written for Oklahoma lawns. Turfgrass Management in Oklahoma places zoysiagrass in central and eastern Oklahoma. Harrah is in Oklahoma County, per the Oklahoma Historical Society entry cited below. The dates are public cues. They are not a day we book, and not a product list. We confirm the plan after we see the lawn.
Which grass OSU puts in sun, light shade, and deeper shade
HLA-6418, Selecting a Lawn Grass for Oklahoma, says bermudagrass is the best-adapted turfgrass for full-sun areas in Oklahoma because of its heat and drought tolerance in summer and its winter hardiness. It says warm-season turfgrasses cannot tolerate shaded sites. For a permanent lawn in shade it names tall fescue, Kentucky bluegrass, or perennial ryegrass, ideally seeded in the fall. It also says tall fescue and Kentucky bluegrass in full sun need more frequent summer watering than bermudagrass, and that they belong in full sun only when irrigation is available.
Turfgrass Management in Oklahoma lists bermudagrass as a statewide full-sun grass and zoysiagrass for central and eastern Oklahoma, full sun to light shade. Managing Turfgrass in the Shade in Oklahoma gives a sunlight check: if the area averages at least eight hours of sun, bermudagrass may work; at least six hours, zoysiagrass may work; less than six hours points toward tall fescue or something other than turf. We do not sell seed, sod, or zoysia. If the shaded part is already tall fescue, its feeding window is not the Bermuda window.
Feeding after green-up, not on a winter tan
HLA-6420, Lawn Management in Oklahoma (published June 2017), says fertilizing bermudagrass before spring green-up is not as effective as fertilizing about two weeks after green-up. Fertilizer after September 1, it says, can push lush fall growth that hinders bermudagrass winterization and can sometimes make spring dead spot worse. More than 1 pound of nitrogen per 1,000 square feet from a water-soluble fertilizer is not likely to improve turf quality, and that fertilizer should be watered into the soil right away so it does not burn the leaves. That rate is OSU's. It is not a rate we print for this yard.
The same fact sheet says tall fescue, Kentucky bluegrass, and perennial ryegrass need less fertilizer than bermudagrass: most of it in the fall, a small amount in spring, and very little if any in summer. On our full plan, three of the six visits are the fertilizing visits. The visit page is fertilization.
Two pre-emergent windows, then the Harrah lawn decides
HLA-6421, Controlling Weeds in Home Lawns (published March 2017), says most preemergence herbicides will not control weeds that have already germinated. It says to apply them by March 15 to April 1 for crabgrass and foxtails, and by September 15 for annual bluegrass and chickweed. Exact dates are hard to give because conditions change by place and year. Crabgrass, it says, does not normally germinate before redbud is past full bloom. Water the product in if 0.5 inch of rain does not fall within 24 to 48 hours. HLA-6420 adds that crabgrass and foxtail germination can run from late March to early May, depending on the place and the year, and that winter weeds begin germinating in late August to early September if moisture is available.
OSU's bermudagrass calendar uses a different crabgrass pre-emergent window: January 1 to March 5 for the first application, and says to follow the label for a second. Its fall or winter window is September 1 to October 1, for winter broadleaf weeds, and the calendar says that use is not effective for annual grass control. Sandy upland soil and a wetter bottom on the same Harrah street can warm and dry on different weeks. We talk through which window fits this lawn. We will not name a product from this page. Weed-visit notes are on weed control.

Common questions
Do you offer lawn treatment in Harrah, OK?
Yes. Lawn treatment in Harrah, OK on this page means weed control and fertilization on a maintained residential lawn. It is not weekly mowing, edging, aeration, or overseeding.
Call or text 405-526-4481 or send the street address. Nothing is booked until you agree.
What does a Harrah lawn treatment plan include?
Weed control and fertilization. A full plan on this site is six visits a year: three visits for weed control and pre-emergent, and three visits for fertilizing plus spot weed treatment. Fertilizer is not on every visit.
We confirm the plan after we see the maintained lawn. Nothing is booked until you agree.
Do you treat lawns up to 4 acres?
Yes—for maintained residential turf up to about 4 acres. That is larger than many local spray routes are set up to handle. Total deed acreage is not the same as treatable lawn: woods, pasture, ponds, and rough ground usually sit outside the request.
Tell us roughly how much lawn you mow and want treated, plus access notes (gates, soft ground, parked vehicles). We confirm fit from the address and the maintained area—not from acreage alone.
How tall can grass get under Harrah's weed rule?
Harrah City Code section 8-102 counts vegetation taller than 12 inches as weeds, with exceptions. Healthy trees, shrubs, and produce for human consumption or grown in a tended garden are excepted unless they create a health, traffic, or fire hazard or interfere with mowing the weeds. Vegetation can also be a weed at any height if it harbors trash or rodents, smells, is a fire or traffic hazard, or is dead or diseased. Tended crops on agricultural-zoned land planted more than 150 feet from a non-agricultural parcel, and grazing pasture for livestock, are not weeds under that definition.
Section 8-101 makes it the owner or occupant's duty to remove trash or weeds inside the city limits. We do not mow. The 12-inch line is a city rule, not a height we cut to.
Where do pulled weeds and limbs go in Harrah?
The City of Harrah trash schedule says bulk items go next to the curb, not against the trash cart, and that no prior notice is required. The limit is three cubic yards or 20 lawn bags, and bags are not to exceed 40 pounds. Limbs and branches must be cut into four-foot sections and bundled with string or twine. Bundles must not be more than three feet in diameter or 40 pounds. A $15 surcharge can apply per extra cubic yard, or if limbs are not bundled to those rules. Do not set paints, oils, gas, propane, or tires out with bulk trash.
The same page lists the 2026 bulk windows by date. Use those posted dates. Section 8-102 also lists yard clippings and leaves as examples of trash that may not accumulate on the lot.
Does Harrah publish a home-lawn watering schedule?
The city code section we found on irrigation is 12-356.1. Required landscaping for multi-family, commercial, industrial, institutional, and public uses is to be irrigated by an underground sprinkler, a hose attachment within 200 feet of the landscaping, or drip irrigation. New single-family homes and duplexes are in subsection D of that section, which requires front-yard trees, not that irrigation list. The city trash schedule and FAQ pages do not publish an odd/even watering calendar.
OSU's Consumer Bermudagrass Lawn Management Calendar says suggested watering amounts are estimates, to adjust for rain, and to water when footprints show after you walk the lawn. That is an OSU note, not a Harrah ordinance.
What soils show up around Harrah in the Oklahoma County survey?
Sample points in USDA soil survey area OK109, Oklahoma County, do not return one soil for Harrah. A sample point near 35.49°N, 97.16°W came back as Urban land. Upland points returned Stephenville-Darnell complex, 1 to 5 percent slopes, including an eroded phase, and Harrah fine sandy loam, 3 to 5 percent slopes. Lower points returned Dale silt loam on rarely flooded ground, Yahola fine sandy loam on occasionally flooded ground, and, at one point, Gaddy-Gracemore complex on frequently flooded ground.
The Harrah soil series is not the same thing as the city limits. Its official type location is in Cleveland County. Send the street address. We do not guess the map unit from the city name.
