What month is the best time to spray for weeds in Oklahoma?
There is not one. It depends on the weed, and on whether you are preventing it or cleaning it up.
There is not one best month to spray for weeds.
The short answer
There is not a single best month for every weed in eastern Oklahoma County. Cooler-weather broadleaf weeds often show from late winter into spring. As the soil warms, grassy weeds such as crabgrass get the attention, and prevention has to happen before those plants emerge. Summer heat opens thin spots. Fall is when you can see what kept coming back. Rain and temperature move every window, so treat the month as a cue, not a booked date.
We work maintained lawns in Spencer, Midwest City, Choctaw, Del City, Newalla, and southeast Oklahoma City. Right now that work is weed control and fertilization only — not aeration, overseeding, mowing, trees, mosquito, or grub programs. On a full plan, three visits are weed control and pre-emergent. How the year breaks up

Prevention and weeds already up
Pre-emergent is timed before susceptible weeds emerge. It is not a cleanup for a plant already standing in the lawn. Flowers or seed heads mean the plant is growing. That is a cleanup question. A lawn that is still clean, while the soil is just warming, can be a prevention question. We will not name a product from this page.
Do not spray through standing water or sealed wet clay. If you already used a store product, say what and about when. A recent application can push the next honest window. The details of a weed visit are on weed control.
What to look at before you spray
A wide shot and a close-up are more useful than a product name. Note whether the weeds are broadleaf, grassy, or sitting in a thin or wet spot.
Open sun and worn paths
Spencer lawns often sit in open sun, with compacted paths from daily use. A weedy curb and a thin walk path are not the same spray. Full-sun Bermuda can look almost fine from the street while a path stays thin and weedy. Those notes are on lawn treatment in Spencer.
Doing it yourself or hiring it out
You can pull a few weeds that are in the way. Take a whole-yard photo and a close-up first, and leave enough of the plant that we can see what was growing. Skip adding another bag just to tidy the yard before we talk. A recent store product changes timing, and we do not stack guesses.
